Abandonment Issues explores 20 historic locations and the drastically different paths they’ve taken. Ten stand abandoned, places with dark, haunted histories that are slowly disappearing through neglect, decay, vandalism, and time.
Their stories remain, but the buildings that hold them may not. On the other side are ten historic locations that were given another chance.
Through preservation, restoration, adaptive reuse, and people who refused to let them disappear, these properties are thriving while still honoring the history within their walls.
By putting these locations side by side, Abandonment Issues shows what we stand to lose when historic properties are forgotten and what can happen when someone decides they’re worth saving.
Because sometimes the most important part of investigating the past is making sure there’s still something left to investigate.
